Scratched from scrap cardboard, “Love looks away” is a quiet and touching family chronicle in which private and historical events combine to create exciting snapshots of contemporary history. It is the story of the daughter of an American and a German. How history of two families across two continents and three generations becomes the history of her own.

Line Hoven (*1971 Bonn). After working as an assistant costume- and set designer at the Kassel State Theatre, she studied visual communication at the Art School in Kassel, and illustration and the University of Applied Sciences Hamburg. She graduated and has since been working as a freelance illustrator and comic artist. Her comics scratched out of scraping cardboard have appeared in various print media. For this book she was awarded the ICOM Independent Prize 2008 for "Best Independent Comic."
