The Hakki-Workshop, organized by the Goethe-Institut in Exile in collaboration with Sudan Club e. V. Berlin, invites members of the Sudanese diaspora to share their personal journeys of displacement, identity, and resilience through a visual medium. Hakki — meaning personal storytelling and self-reflection — provides participants with a platform to narrate their experiences, from the beginning of their journey to the challenges and transformations along the way.
This workshop fosters creative expression while preserving the unique stories of the Sudanese diaspora. Participants will learn the fundamentals of storytelling. In doing so, they will jointly explore themes of belonging, cultural identity, and emotional complexity. To document their stories, the workshop participants will be interviewed about their experiences.
The final video portraits will be presented at a public event in early autumn 2025, ensuring these voices resonate within and beyond the community. Submissions are open via an Open Call, and participants will be selected by a specialized jury.
