The Goethe-Institut Ukraine
The Goethe-Institut Ukraine has been working closely with local partners and the Ukrainian cultural scene for over 30 years. The teams in the Language, Information & Library (I&B) and Programme departments are key players in the Ukrainian cultural landscape. In the context of the Russian invasion in February 2022, employees were forced to adapt their work methods.
Despite these challenges, the Goethe-Institut has continued its work tirelessly and continuously strengthened digital processes. While some employees are abroad, most of them work in Kyiv, either in the institute's office itself or from home. German certificate exams have been offered again since July 2022, and the library was gradually reopened in spring 2024, applying a security concept.
Over the past two years, the Goethe-Institut has provided considerable support, adapted its activities to the new circumstances and acquired additional resources. The hybrid structure with part of the team in Germany and part in Ukraine has proven to be successful. The Goethe-Institut Ukraine remains a reliable partner in the country's cultural and educational landscape and looks with optimism towards the future.
