Joy despite the darkness

The poem and the images are linked together. We wanted the artwork not to be devoid of expressing the lived reality in our country, Yemen, and at the same time we chose confidence as a form of trust in singing to embody not giving in to difficulties and experiencing joy despite the darkness.

The reason for our choice of singing is that we are cultural activists and artists, and we found it fitting for us. In the poem the expression is clear, and the images reflect its vocabulary.

Nezar Moqbel

Nizar Moqbel is a photographer and independent filmmaker from Yemen. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Radio and Television from the Faculty of Mass Communication - Sana'a University. His photo articles were published in several magazines and digital platforms: (“An article on Yemeni street life-VICE” which was published in six languages, “An article on the historic Ashrafieh mosque, and an article on Al-Arqoub’s isolation in Al-Mahweet Governorate- Al-Madaniya Magazine” Finally, a photo album on the idea of reviving The name of Happy Yemen - AJ + Arabic platform. Nizar participated in many local and international exhibitions, the latest of which are: "The Happy Yemen Exhibition" in Austria, and the "Yemeni Day" exhibition in Berlin/Germany. Nizar has worked for several local authorities and international organizations and companies, such as: AJ+ Arabi - Human Appeal Organization - Fish Eye Media.

Amran Musbah

A writer and poet, he won the Poetry Art Diwan project "From the Land of Shattered Windows", which is supported by the German Poetry Project Organization. His article entitled I Think of Lukaku was chosen as the best article for young writers under 30 years old. He has been working in the field of writing, journalism, and research for several agencies, continuously for years.
