Born in 1979 in Bogalay, almost 150km away from Yangon, Myanmar, Kyaw Ko Ko studied painting at the National University of Arts and Culture in 1996, followed by cinematography in 2007. He joined Yangon Film School to learn sound design and graduated in 2009. With a strong passion for sounds, he does sound design for Myanmar’s mainstream films, documentary films and TV projects. He shares his experiences as a sound recordist and sound designer in Myanmar, and teaches talented young local filmmakers.
Aye Nilar Kyaw
Aye Nilar Kyaw was born in 1995 in Yangon, Myanmar. As she has a strong passion for filmmaking, media and the arts, she studied filmmaking in Yangon Film School and graduated in 2016. She works as a filmmaker and a professional cinematographer on documentary films and short films. She also works as a mentor and assistant tutor at Yangon Film School, sharing her experiences with young filmmakers, as well as produces music as a freelancer.
CONCEPT
The main theme of our film is to show that Yangon is a place full of rhythms, always busy and never sleeps. The whole city runs like a circle in everyone’s daily life. Yangon is a destination for so many people from all over Myanmar who come in search of their dreams or to change their lives. A source of hope for many people, the city boasts iconic places and reflects the different religions that people believe in. The images interweave with the sounds of everyday life. Yangon is always alive and rapidly changing. The most important thing is: it feels like Yangon is becoming more and more a mega city.
