Michaela Ott is a professor of aesthetic theories at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg, Germany. Furthermore, she is a member of DFG’s Cluster of Excellence “Africa multiple” at the University of Bayreuth as well as a chairperson of the nGbk Berlin.
Her main research topics include poststructuralist philosophy, aesthetics of film, theories of space, affection and dividuation. Furthermore, she researches questions of artistic knowledge, biennal research, researches in postcolonial questions as well as African and Arabic films.
Michaela Ott’s main publications include Deleuze – an introduction (2005); Affection. An aesthetic-epistemological figure (2010); Timing of Affect. Epistemologies of Affection in collaboration with Marie-Luise Angerer and Bernd Bösel (2014); dividuations, theories of participation (2018); and Welches Außen des Denkens? Französische Theorien in postkolonialer Kritik (2019).
