Online-seminar for secondary school German teachers in Cameroon
Teacher A politely declines pupil X's request to speak, even though he/she has spoken up. She wants an answer from shy student Y. Teacher A also designs different worksheets for different groups of students for the same exercise. Why do teachers make such decisions in their lessons? Injustice, fashion effect or a purely whimsical idea? No, they know that the learners in the class are all different. They all have different cultural backgrounds, different learning conditions, learning abilities, life experiences and so on. In short, each learner has their own subjective concept. There are almost never homogeneous classes. How teachers can promote individuality in heterogeneous learning groups requires special diagnostic skills that should be continuously developed.
