Mediating between two cultures
A look into the works by literary translator Theo Votsos
Theo (Theodoros) Votsos is a guest speaker at the conferene of this year’s Limassol Book Fair.
Within the framework of the Weeks of the German language, the Goethe-Institut Zypern has invited Theo Votsos to Nicosia. The event at ARTos House focuses on the translator Theo Votsos and his decades of work as a language mediator between Greek- and German-language literature.
The Cypriot author Constantia Soteriou, recently awarded with the national book prize for her latest novel, is talking with Theo Votsos, among other things, about his favourite projects and the collaboration between authors and translators. The translator will give an insight into his work with the help of concrete text examples
Short biography
Theo Votsos, born in Stuttgart in 1966 as the son of Greek migrant workers, works as a freelance translator of Greek and German literature. He also works as a film and literature editor for various print and online media. He studied political science, sociology and philosophy in Konstanz and Tübingen.
