Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
Levels A1-C2
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) describes the language competencies of learners. A distinction is made between six levels (A1 to C2). Each level lists what a learner can do (so-called “competence” descriptions).
The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages serves as a common basis for the development of syllabuses, curricula, examinations, textbooks, etc. in Europe. Objective criteria for the description of language competence are provided; this serves to foster transparency with regard to courses and the comparability of qualification certificates.
