Hi! My name is Sarah, I’m from the United States and I’m the current intern for the Library and Information department here at the Goethe-Institut London. I moved to London in September 2022 to start my Master’s degree in Tourism and Cultural Policy from Goldsmiths, University of London.
So far I have learnt a lot about how cultural institutes play a key role in cultural policy and the different opportunities they have in spreading culture abroad. It is because of these studies that I became interested in the internship at Goethe, and I am very grateful and excited to see how my education continues alongside this work experience.
A lot of my studies, both currently and for my undergraduate degree, have focused on the cultural sphere, so it’s been great getting an inside look at how the Goethe-Institut operates. It’s my first time working with social media and online editing, which has been a bit of a challenge but I’m appreciative of the help that the department provides. I’m hoping that my time at the Goethe-Institut will broaden my understanding of the types of jobs available within the cultural world. I’m very much looking forward to the next few months here!
