Volker Kutscher, born in 1962, worked as an editor at a daily newspaper after his studies in Philosophy, History and German studies and before he wrote his first crime novel. Today he lives in Cologne and works as a freelance author. Der nasse Fisch (The wet fish) is his first book of his crime series with inspector Rath in Berlin during the 1930s.
