Behind The Wall: Short Films From The GDR
After 38 years of existing as a divided country, the first crucial step towards German unification occurred on 9th November 1989; when Berlin opened its checkpoints and people passed freely between East and West for the first time in decades. In November this year, 30 years will have passed since this historic moment. The London Short Film Festival kicks of the anniversary year with three programmes of short films highlighting the dissenting and subversive work made in the German Democratic Republic. The Goethe-Institut is pleased to contribute to the presentation to this special focus within the festival and look forward to the visit of Berlin-based filmmaker and curator Claus Löser who will introduce one of the programmes.
