GERMAN IDEALISM, RECOGNITION AND IDENTITY POLITICS
Philosophy lecture and Q&A by James Clarke and Charlotte Baumann
In recent years, issues of identity have played a prominent role in discourse on both the left and right sides of the political spectrum. In this lecture, James Clarke (Philosophy Department, University of York) will argue that the conceptual resources of German Idealism can provide crucial insights into identity politics in contemporary Europe. Charlotte Baumann (Institute for Philosophy, TU Berlin) will respond to Clarke’s lecture, providing a German perspective on the issues.
