Tina Bara, Cornelia Schleime, and Gabriele Stötzer are rebels. As young women in the 1970s and 80s in East Germany, the three are full of storm and stress and unafraid. They want to be free—and because that is not possible, they at least want to create art that expresses what they are feeling. Their images tell a touching story of their vulnerability in a system that suppresses many young creative individuals. When the conflict with the Stasi escalates, they must decide: to stay or to leave. The film by Pamela Meyer-Arndt offers a new perspective on the art and lives of these three fascinating women.
