Showcasing the best Photobooks from German-speaking countries

Goethe-Gallery, Goethe-Institut Hongkong

The German Photo Book Award is a competition in which a jury selects the best photo books in the German-speaking world. It was founded in 1975 as the Kodak Photo Book Prize in cooperation with the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels and the Landesgewerbeamt Stuttgart and was held annually under this name until 2003. Since 2003 and after the withdrawal of Kodak AG as sponsor and name giver, the prize has continued under the name "Deutscher Fotobuchpreis".

Prizes are awarded for special achievements by authors, photographers and publishers in the field of photo books. In addition to publishers, the competition is also open to photographers and photo designers. Eligible are photo books from publishers in the German-speaking countries (i.e. also from Switzerland, Austria) and titles that have been published for the first time in a certain period of time and have never participated in the "German Photo Book Award" before. The participating books must be deliverable and available in stores.
