Mainstreaming Online Protection for Women and Girls During the COVID-19 Pandemic

 

Online gender-based violence (OGBV) in 2020 increased significantly. Based on SAFEnet’s monitoring, there were 620 cases of OGBV last year, or more than 10 times the previous year (60 incidents in 2019).
 
It takes a concerted effort to solve this problem. The biggest challenge is how to mainstream the protection of women and children when facing OGBV. What joint efforts and breakthroughs can Komnas Perempuan, relevant ministries, academics and civil society groups put into action?
