Anggraeni Widhiasih (curator & film researcher) will be in conversation with film director Julia Fuhr Mann and artist-activist Anggun Pradesha after the film screening.

GoetheHaus Jakarta

The film Life Is Not a Competition but I'm Winning delves into overlooked aspects of athletes, sports competitions, and the body—elements that frequently go unnoticed by mainstream narratives. These subjects are explored uniquely through visual approaches, color palettes, and editing styles that are rarely seen in typical documentary films.

Following the screening, a discussion with the film’s director, Julia Fuhr Mann, will explore the production process, artistic decisions, and the film’s core themes. The conversation may touch upon the challenges of portraying marginalized bodies, rethinking the competitive nature of sports, and the impact of these artistic choices on the viewer’s experience.

Additionally, transgender artist and activist Anggun Pradesha will bring her perspective on body issues, touching on themes such as ownership, perception, intervention, anxiety, and more.

This conversation will be moderated by Anggraeni Widhiasih.
