The Artist-in-Residence scheme is open toprofessional international artist in the areas of dance, performance, media and sound art. Residencies will be arranged to match the individual’s or group’s interests and needs.
PACT Zollverein is located within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Zeche Zollverein mines. Zollverein is situated in the city of Essen (Ruhr area, North Rhine-Westphalia), among the suburban districts of Stoppenberg and Katernberg. One can reach Zollverein by tram from Essen city centre or by suburban S-Bahn train services.
A residency can include the following: a studio space (63 to 173 sqm), accommodation and a weekly stipend for all participants (max 6 artists), travel expenses covered for travelling to and from Essen, the availability of technical equipment, stage rehearsals with technical support and professional consultancy regarding project finances, project management and public relations.
The mines at Zeche Zollverein closed in December 1986 and five years later they were declared a UNESCO World Heritage. Since its foundation in 2002, PACT Zollverein is engine and platform for developments within the areas of dance, performance art, theatre, media and visual arts. The organisation supports and fosters dance and performance as independent art forms.
