HALLE 14 – Zentrum für zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig
HALLE 14 offers professional international artists the possibility to apply for the combined bursary/residence programme or simply for a residency.
The organisation is based in the cultural quarter of the former Leipzig cotton spinning works, located in the city’s industrial western district. Public transport serves the area well.
The bursary/residence programme issues open calls for applications, based on specific themes or subjects. Since 2011 three open calls have been issued. The bursaries enclude a monthly stipend, a studio/workspace, accommodation and support through the HALLE 14 team.
In cooperation with other (international) partner organisations, HALLE 14 also offers artist residencies for artists seconded from their ‘home’ organisations to Leipzig. Currently HALLE 14 is aiming to develop further partnerships in this regard. Artists going to Leipzig will be able to work in studio/workshop spaces and will be supported and promoted by the HALLE 14 team and their public relations department.
HALLE 14 is an independtly-run cultural centre for contemporary art, offering exhibitions, a library and an artistic outreach programme. The five-storey listed industrial building is part of the former Leipzig spinning works, once continental Europe’s largest of its kind. Since the early 1990s the area has attracted artists, galleries and other art professionals. HALLE 14 is run by the HALLE 14 e.V. association, using the building for non-commercial, contemporary artistic works.
Deadlines for applications for the international bursary/residence programme will be communicated on the organisation’s website and via its newsletter.
There are no application deadlines for the residency programme since partnerships and residencies can be organized all year round.
