"As a freelance camerawoman the job path is not that easy“

Aleksandra Medianikova had already completed her camera studies in Russia when she came to Germany. Here she studies again to fulfill her professional dream. It was definitely worth it, she says

Aleksandra Medianikova …

… born in Russia in 1987, graduated from the Saint Petersburg State University of Cinematography and Television. She came to Germany in 2014 to study camera at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. The master's degree followed in 2019, since then she has been working as a freelance camerawoman for various projects.

Camera Operators …

… design, plan and create undeveloped areare responsible for camera work or image design in the production of films of all kinds – feature films and documentaries are just as much a part of this as television programmes. In close cooperation with directors, authors and production companies, camera operators develop the visual concept for films and videos. To become a camerawoman or man, you either complete a three-year training course or study – like Aleksandra – at a film or television academy. As much practical experience as possible should be gained during the training phase
