The difference between travel photography and travel drawing...
"... With any drawing, as David Hockney says, you bring time to it. It’s the act of looking and documenting that act which takes place in a fragmentary manner.
With photography, I think the act of looking comes later when we look at the photographs. Travel photography is for me just a subset of the snapshot. I think drawing something on location and taking a photo on the location are two completely different activities."
When I draw...
"... I’m really looking at something, and usually, I tend to look at things that don’t move too much."
On my ‘travels’, I have been inspired by...
"... Delacroix, Turner, Hayao Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon."
I would still like to visit...
"... Geneva and draw machines and other things at CERN (European Organisation for Nuclear Research). Would love to do a comic about CERN."
My reading for my next trip includes...
"... The Rings of Saturn by W G Sebald."
