Abbas Khider

Abbas Khider was arrested many times for his political activities in Iraq. After a prison stay in 1996, he fled and ultimately found asylum in Germany, where he received German citizenship in 2007. Khider studied literature and philosophy in Munich and Potsdam and initially wrote poetry and essays. His novel debut Der falsche Inder was published in 2008. Among other honours, his complete works to date were awarded the Adelbert von Chamisso Prize in 2017. Abbas Khider lives in Berlin.
