Katharina Winkler

Katharina Winkler studied German, Drama and Philosophy, in addition to completing an acting course in Vienna. Her debut novel, Blauschmuck (Blue Jewellery), was published in 2016. The book received several awards, including the Mara Cassens Prize, the Prix du Premier Roman Étranger, awarded in France for the best debut novel written in a foreign language, and the Premio Euskadi de Plata for the best foreign-language novel. Winkler processed her experiences in theatre and film production for the play (au) Revoir Édith Piaf (2020), which appeared only in book form. Katharina Winkler lives in Berlin.
