This years topic: Migration and cultural influence
Migration is a complex and transformative experience that involves leaving a familiar life behind and adapting to a new environment. When people migrate to a new country, they bring with them a unique set of values, traditions and perspectives. At the same time, they leave behind aspects of their previous life, creating a dynamic interaction between the old and the new.
What do you take with you when you migrate to a new country? What do you leave behind? A life changes. We move to a new country, but we also leave a little piece of ourselves behind. In our new home - and it takes a while to call it home - we change and adapt to our new surroundings, but we also contribute something to the new environment.
Look for a found object - from your immediate surroundings or on the internet. You may also have seen a picture somewhere that tells you about a migration story and how it has left its mark on the culture of the new country. You can find an example below.
Look around in the real and digital world and see if you can discover traces of migrants that influence the culture of your new home. Take a photo, record a song or a poem and write a few lines about the story behind it.
