Cultural Societies

The cultural societies in Ahmedabad and Jaipur offer activities to promote the German language and culture. Typical activities include:

• cultural events related to Germany
• German courses
• projects offering information on Germany
• personal contacts in Germany

Unlike the Goethe-Instituts, German cultural societies abroad are not German institutions. They are established in the country where they operate.

Like the Goethe-Institut, they work in accordance with the principles of foreign cultural and educational policy. They work intensively with the Goethe-Instituts in a spirit of trust and cooperation but without contractual arrangements. Through the responsible German office abroad, they receive a substantial annual budget subsidy from German public funds.
