Komplett Kafka Deutschlehrertagung © Goethe-Institut / Literaturhaus Stuttgart

Register for the Seminar: Didaktisierung „Komplett Kafka“ with Dr. Asoka Mendis de Zoysa

This event is an additional offering from the Goethe-Institut and takes place as part of the German Teachers' Conference:

Thursday, August 22
09:00 - 11:00 AM
TamarindTree Garden Resort, Katunayake

In the commemoration year 2024 of Franz Kafka, the Goethe-Institut, in cooperation with the artist Nicolas Mahler and the Literaturhaus Stuttgart, is organizing the poster exhibition KOMPLETT KAFKA. For 14 of these posters, educational materials have been created for levels A2/B1 and 14 educational materials for levels B2/C1, which can be used modularly. During Kafka Year 2024 (on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death), learners will discover the biography of the writer and gain access to his works.

The materials for the A2/B1-level worksheets have been carefully crafted to be accessible and practical for German teachers in the early stages of their careers.

Participants will gain insight into the life of one of the most famous German-speaking authors while simultaneously improving their language skills in everyday situations, which is both motivating and educational. The tasks presented at both levels establish concrete connections to the everyday lives of the learners and are designed to place the students in real-life scenarios where they can apply their acquired language skills. This not only enhances linguistic competence but also promotes the ability to act in real-life situations.

This seminar will be led by Dr. Asoka Mendis de Zoysa (MA, PhD Freie Universität Berlin), Professor of German Studies, Department of Modern Languages, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka.
