For us, remembrance is an active attitude of respect that expresses the recognition of suffering, appreciation of the victims and a commitment to ensuring that this does not happen again in the future.

Remembering together - Discover our varied programme for groups, school classes and individual visitors.

For school classes from the Netherlands, we have organised the Stumbling Stones Experience Day

Guided tour through the Stolpersteine workshop

Why are the memorial plaques called Stolpersteine and how are they made?

In June 2021, production began in the first Stolperstein workshop outside Germany. Anyone can be there and learn more about the Stolpersteine and their significance in the garden of the Goethe-Institut in Amsterdam. Come along and look over the shoulder of designer Alexander Stukenberg as he makes the Stolpersteine!

Background information on the Stumbling Stones can be found on this page.

Time required: ca. 30 minutes

Self guided Tour | Stolpersteine

The past becomes visible during the three city rallies near the Goethe-Institut: the stumbling blocks in front of the buildings provide information about the personal fate of the former residents. The Actionbound app shows you the way and provides you with important information about the time of the Nazi regime. Stumble with your heart and pause to remember the victims.

First download the free Actionbound® app with your smartphone (available in the app store for Android and iOS-based phones).

Then click on the link to the desired virtual tour:
Languages: German, Dutch or English

Time required: 60 minutes each bound

If you would like us to accompany you as a group or individually on the Actionbounds, please register.

Workshop on the topic of escape

We imagine that we suddenly have to leave our own home because it is too dangerous to stay there. We only have ten minutes to pack a small rucksack. What would we take with us?

In this workshop, we will look at the difficult decisions that people have to make when fleeing. In small groups, we can discuss together in a safe space how we would act in a similar situation.

Required time: 60 minutes
