The Goethe-Institut, in collaboration with the UP Vargas Museum, is pleased to present Beyond the Edge, Embodied Horizons, a solo exhibition by Lee Paje. This exhibition follows her participation in the 10th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (QAGOMA, Australia, 2021) and the Pazifik-Leipzig Artist Residency (Germany, 2022).

Bringing together a compelling collection of works, the exhibition critically examines colonial, traditional, and heteronormative narratives, offering new perspectives through alternative myths and reimagined histories. Beyond the Edge, Embodied Horizons encourages viewers to engage with a more fluid and expansive interpretation of identity and historical storytelling.

The exhibition will be on view from March 29 to May 31, 2025 at the UP Vargas Museum, with the support of Goethe-Institut Philippines and Tin-aw Art Management.

About the Artist

Lee Paje

Lee Paje (geb. 1980, lebt in Manila, Philippinen) arbeitet mit verschiedenen Formen, darunter Malerei, Skulptur, Druckgrafik, Video, Installation und Kunst im öffentlichen Raum. Ihre Werke verweisen auf visuelle Erzählungen, die alternative Realitäten über geschlechtsspezifische Identitäten aufzeigen sollen. Sie hat an Einzel- und Gruppenausstellungen auf den Philippinen, in Australien, Deutschland, Italien, Singapur, Taiwan und in den Vereinigten Staaten teilgenommen. Sie erhielt 2018 die Art Omi Artist Residency in New York und 2022 die Pazifik-Leipzig Artist Residency des Goethe-Instituts in Leipzig, Deutschland. Lee hat einen Abschluss in Studio Arts von der University of the Philippines College of Fine Arts, wo sie mit magna cum laude abschloss und den Dominador Castañeda Award für die beste Abschlussarbeit erhielt.
