TestAS

The TestAS (Test for Academic Studies) is a standardized test that examines cognitive skills that are particularly important for studying. The TestAS is designed for applicants who want to complete an undergraduate degree at a university in Germany.

The TestAS was developed on behalf of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) by ITB Consulting, Bonn, and TestDaF-Institut, Hagen. The development was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

What advantages does the TestAS offer?

  • The university can select students who meet the necessary requirements for a particular study program.

  • The participants learn about the typical requirements of the degree program they are pursuing.

  • Prospective students use the test results to realistically assess whether they can successfully complete a study program at a German university.

You can find out on the universities' websites which institutions take the TestAS into account when admitting foreign students. Please find out more about the specific admission requirements for the study program of your choice on that university’s website or at their International Offices.

Please note: Registration and payment of fees is only possible directly via the TestAS website.
