University College for Agrarian and Environmental Pedagogy Vienna (Austria)

College of Agricultural and Environmental Education Vienna

The protection and sustainable use of natural resources is the focus of the training and continuing education offered by our college. It is the only training and continuing education institution in Austria for agricultural educators, environmental educators, for teachers of agricultural education and for employees of the agricultural extension service. In addition to the bachelor's and master's degree programs, the university offers a wide range of courses and continuing education courses, for example on nature education or green care.

In the field of "Education for Sustainable Development", the university sees itself as a platform and interface between educational research and practice in school and out-of-school education. The concept of "Green Pedagogy" developed at the university concretizes Education for Sustainable Development for agricultural and environmental education. This links the concepts for the development of Gestaltungskompetenz (Gerhard de Haan) with the concept of constructivist didactics, for the special requirements of agricultural and environmental education as well as nutrition and consumer education.
International cooperation is a particular concern of the university, which cooperates in particular with institutions of agricultural education in Europe. There is a long-standing cooperation with the Goethe Institute in Eastern Europe and Central Asia on topics of sustainable development within the framework of CLIL.

Founded in 1954 as a federal seminar for agricultural teaching and promotion. Since 2007 university.
