Travel Stipends to Germany for New England Artists
Planning an artist residency or cooperation in Germany in 2025? Studio 170 can help with travel costs. . .
Studio 170 is once again offering artists of all disciplines, living and/or working in New England, the opportunity to apply for travel funding to Germany in 2025. Whether you are planning an artist residency or a collaborative project in Germany, we invite you to apply for a travel stipend to help cover the costs.
Studio 170 will reimburse up to $1500 in travel costs including flights, room & board, visa, and necessary shipping costs. Artists must be based in New England and have a confirmed invitation to Germany for a residency or for a collaborative project with an artist and/or an orgaanisation. Although there is no required length of stay, the expectation is at least 10 days. Artists of all disciplines, including visual and multi-media art, film, theater, music, writing and dance, are invited to apply.
Artists are asked to (1) share material for the Goethe-Institut Boston social media channels during their time in Germany and upon returning (2) commit to participating in a public event at the Goethe-Institut boston at which they share their work or alternatively submit a final report.
Please note, Studio 170 cannot reimburse travel costs that are already covered by a host in Germany. Successful applicants will be required to submit original receipts prior to receiving reimbursement.

Application deadline is November 17, 2024. Decisions will be communicated by November 20. We expect to fund two stipends in 2025.
