Performances
P3M5 at the University of Virginia
Short plays originally commissioned as part of the Plurality of Privacy Project in Five-Minute Plays (P3M5) will be performed as part of the University of Virginia’s Department of Drama’s season. Performances will be paired with community forums to create an artistic and cultural dialogue centered on the theme of privacy. In addition to scripts commissioned by the Goethe-Institut and written by professional European and American playwrights, student works inspired by the same prompt (“What does privacy mean to you in the digital age?”) will also be shared to explore themes of privacy in the specific context of the university community.
The plays presented at the event will include:
Privacy Please | Christine McLennan | UVA |
Project Deburkanisation | Rachida Lamrabet | Belgium |
Quality, Reliability | Csaba Szekely | Hungary |
@Hot Migrants | Paco Bezerra | Spain |

P3M5 is a groundbreaking transatlantic theater project focused on the value of privacy. In cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Washington, theaters across the US and Europe have commissioned playwrights to write five-minute plays exploring the central question, “What does privacy mean to you in the digital age?” The resulting plays, and subsequent short films adapted from them, are being presented in different formats by a network of theaters, festivals, and other organizations between January 2017 and June 2018.
