The Goethe-Institut South Africa (Johannesburg) is looking for a committed employee for the period from 01.09.2024 until 31.12.2026 for the financial monitoring and accounting department for the Special funding project “African Feminisms - Rights, Representation and Resources” within the framework of the ZANMO funding concept of the Federal Foreign Office with a scope of employment of 50 % = 20 hours per week. 

The Goethe-Institut is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany with a global reach. We promote knowledge of the German language abroad and foster international cultural cooperation. We convey a comprehensive picture of Germany by providing information about cultural, social and political life in Germany. The Goethe-Institut in Johannesburg manages the work in the countries south of the Sahara. A particular focus of activities in this region is the strengthening of pan-African dialog and the promotion of mobile access to information and education.

The project
The project “African Feminisms - Rights, Representation and Resources” is based on the guidelines of feminist foreign policy and aims to address African feminisms on the continent and in Germany, the application of feminist practice in the form of qualification programs and the opening up of new perspectives through thematic-artistic work. The project is an initiative of the “House of African Feminisms”.

Ihr Aufgabenbereich im Wesentlichen:
  • Buchhaltung für das Projekt für die Standorte Johannesburg, Lagos und Kigali. (Kreditorenbuchhaltung inkl. Anlegen von Kreditorenstammdaten, Sachkontenbuchhaltung, Bankbuchhaltung und Anlagenbuchhaltung)
  • Sicherstellung der Einhaltung von internen und externen Vorgaben, Richtlinien und Gesetzen (speziell deutsches Vergaberecht und Bundeshaushaltsordnung), inkl. fachlicher Beratung der durchführenden Institute bei Bewirtschaftung, Abrechnung und Mittelabfluss der Projektmittel
  • Unterstützung der durchführenden Institute und des Fachbereichs Haushaltsmanagement bei Auditvorbereitungen
  • Betreuung des regionalen Berichtswesens und Finanzcontrollings: Monitoring der Mittelbewirtschaftung inklusive Liquiditätsüberwachung, unterjährige Budgetplanänderungen und Pflege von Kostenübersichten
  • Erstellung der (unterjährigen) Zwischen- und Verwendungsnachweise für das Auswärtige Amt
  • Unterstützung der regionalen Projektverantwortlichen und der lokalen Projektkoordinationen bei der Erstellung von Finanzierungsplänen
  • Kontinuierliches Controlling, sowie Revidierung von Kostenpläne gemäß Zuwendungsrecht
  • Unterstützung bei der Ausarbeitung von Änderungs- und Umwidmungsanträgen
  • Unterstützung bei Personalplanung, Vertragsrecht und anderen administrativen Aspekten, inkl. Büroverwaltung
Requirements:
  • University of Applied Sciences degree or Bachelor's degree in business administration/administrative sciences or administrative specialist or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • Sound knowledge of commercial accounting
  • Willingness to familiarize yourself with the legal structures and requirements of the Federal Foreign Office
  • Very good knowledge of SAP (FI and CO) or willingness to undergo intensive training
  • Very good IT skills (MS Office, PPS)
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills
  • High level of communication skills
  • High social and intercultural competence
  • High level of creative motivation and initiative
  • Good knowledge of German and English (knowledge of French desirable)
  • South African work permit
