Rebellious Mika has failed the school year. Instead of going to a summer camp with her friend as planned, she now has to spend the summer vacations studying. Her parents send her to her grandmother Maria Kaltenbach, a former successful show jumper who had to give up her career because of an accident with her horse Ostwind. There, at the Kaltenbach farm, Mika is supposed to find the necessary "peace and discipline" to study. Secretly, Mika befriends the shy stallion Ostwind, the horse blamed for Maria's accident and since then considered useless and dangerous. A close bond develops between Mika and Ostwind.
