Love at First Fight!
Impressions Berlin
Having had its world premiere in North America under the title Queer as German Folk, the exhibition finally arrived at the Schwules Museum in Berlin under the title Love at First Fight!. For the occasion, the first and largest gallery at the museum was completely reorganized: a dark and labyrinthine obstacle course of halls and walls was transformed into a bright and open room with no guidance on how to navigate the space.

Visitors can dive into the exhibition from all four sides and decide which timeline to follow: they might take the classical approach of starting with the “Before Stonewall” section; then move diagonally to contribute their own “Snap Moment”; or perhaps begin by sitting on one of the white or pink stools in the multimedia island to watch and absorb testimonials from various activists.
The exhibition texts in Berlin were kept in German, but there are folders with English texts available at the entrance – simply remove, use and ideally return when done.
