Guided Tour: 9.9.2021 (Thu) 7:00pm Goethe-Institut Hongkong is pleased to present a series of programmes under the topic of "The Body and The City" from August to October this year. The programmes include film screenings, community-oriented performative works in public space and an exhibition showcasing works of 16 international artists/ artist collectives and curated by Wong Ka Ying.

Curatorial Statement:
The relationship between the people‘s bodies and the cities is indivisible and complex at any one moment. Human body starts a conversation with the urban space not only with its physical reaction but also with its memories, individually and collectively. When the city becomes the main body of the narrativity, rather than being barely the space where people’s reactions take place, the discussions are no longer necessarily carried out in a geographical and chronological manner. ‘The Body and the City’ presents selected interdisciplinary art works from across the world by 16 artists/ collectives, including performance art, sculpture, photographies, moving images and conceptual art, which are reflecting on both the body and the city as the subject rather than the object, and aims to investigate the human traces and experiences carried by the containers which are made up of flesh and concrete.
