Martin Mosebach

(born 31.07.1951 in Frankfurt am Main), author

Martin Mosebach studied law in Frankfurt am Main and Bonn and began writing his first novel during this time. His comprehensive work "Das Bett" (i.e. the bed) appeared in 1983. Many of his novels, such as "Westend" (1992) and "Der Mond und das Mädchen" (i.e. the moon and the maiden, 2007) are set in his hometown, with which Mosebach has an ambivalent relationship. As a freelance writer he has also written screenplays, plays, radio plays, opera libretti, poems, reportages, feature texts and stories. He has been awarded numerous prizes for his wide-ranging work, including the Heinrich von Kleist Prize (2002) and the Georg Büchner Prize (2007). Martin Mosebach lives in Frankfurt am Main.
