Judith Kuckart

(born 17.06.1959 in Schwelm), writer director.

Judith Kuckart trained in dance at the Folkwang School in Essen and studied literature and theatre studies in Cologne and Berlin. In 1985 she founded her own dance theatre, Skoronel, with which she realised a total of 17 plays as author, dancer, choreographer and director. Her first novel Wahl der Waffen was published in 1990 and was followed by other novels, short story collections, plays and radio plays. Judith Kuckart has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Rauris Literature Prize (1991), a Villa Massimo scholarship (1998) and the German Critics' Prize (2004). She lives in Zurich and Berlin.
