Meenakshi Shedde
Meenakshi Shedde is South Asia Delegate to the Berlin Film Festival, independent film curator, journalist and feminist, based in Mumbai, India. Winner of India’s National Film Award for Best Film Critic, she has been on the jury of 20 international film festivals, including Cannes, Berlin and Venice. She has been film curator/consultant to the Toronto Film Festival’s TIFF Bell Lightbox; Locarno, Busan, Dubai, IFFI-Goa, Kerala and Mumbai Film Festivals; British Film Institute and Asia Pacific Screen Awards, Australia, and Mentor on Script Labs worldwide.
Working on diverse gender issues since 20 years, she is Vice Chairperson, Point of View, Mumbai, a non-profit that amplifies the voices of women through popular media. She has written for the book And Who Will Make the Chapatis?, on the political empowerment of rural women panchayats/village council leaders in Maharashtra; on Sangram’s Veshya Anyay Mukti Parishad (VAMP), a sex workers’ collective, Sangli, Maharashtra; and for Women Managing Water: Inspiring Stories from South Asia, a CD volume.
