Book launch of “Selected Poems by Erich Fried” in Bengali translation by Parampara Prakashan Publishers

Erich Fried (May 6, 1921, Vienna - November 22, 1988, Baden-Baden) was a German-language poet, essayist and translator. In the second half of the 20th century, he became the most popular German-language poet since the time of Heinrich Heine. He became particularly well known for his love poems. He was regarded as a representative of German-language political poems like Bertolt Brecht and Hans Magnus Enzensberger. Subroto Saha translated his own selection of 255 poems from “Gesammelte Gedichte” by Klaus Wagenbach Verlag into Bengali with a foreword. The essayist, linguist and translator Professor Chinmoy Guha will take part in a discussion with him and in the reading. Also Rudra Kingshuk, Nandita Sinha and Saurav Hawladar will participate in the reading.

All are welcome.
