Monthly Film Screening

Director: Lisa Bierwirth
2021, Colour, 125 minutes

A love story in Frankfurt that offers all sorts of cultural adventures: a Congolese man and a German woman fall in love and enter into a relationship, knowing full well that it is not going to be easy. Indeed, the man has more criminal energy than the woman would like, but she would rather be his saviour than his ally. Lisa Bierwirth tells a pleasantly down-to-earth tale about this difficult union in her debut film, which owes a large part of its success to its great protagonists. At the same time, she observes the prejudices that arise everywhere, enabling one to experience how everyday racism works.

Lisa Bierwirth, born in Hessisch Lichtenau in 1983, spent a year abroad in New York City in 2000/2001, where she worked at various Off-Broadway theaters while attending high school. During her studies, she directed several short and medium-length films, which were successfully screened at international festivals. In 2019, Lisa Bierwirth started working on her feature film debut "Le Prince", about a German woman in her mid-forties from the Frankfurt art scene, whose new love for a Congolese businessman is met with distrust in her environment. The film premiered at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in August 2021 and was released in German cinemas the following month.

For age group 18 years and above.
