A cinematic ode to the outsider in which a woman, Alice, who is unable to find a job, is faced with falling by the wayside in society. Within her personal sphere, she is more or less successful at maintaining the facade of an intact freelancer career. In truth, however, the only thing keeping her head above water are the petrol vouchers she gets as compensation for absurd jobs at market research institutes.
Lucia Chiarla was born in Genoa, Italy, and took acting classes at the Performing Arts School "Paolo Grassi" in Milan. She also studied Literature at the University of Genoa. In Italy, she worked as an actress in municipal theaters and movies. In 2005, she moved to Berlin. Her first movie "Bye Bye Berlusconi!" was shown in the Panorama section of the Berlinale 2006. She acted in theater productions in Berlin and attended the Skript Akademie, as well as wrote scripts and worked as a dramaturge. "The Chairs Game" marks her directorial debut.
For age group 18 years and above.
Friday Films are the monthly screenings of German films at the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan Kolkata. One film is screened every third Friday of the Month from 6.30 pm. All films are in German language with English subtitles.
