at the Goethe-Institut New Delhi with an employment scope of 100 per cent (40 hours/week). Remuneration will be according to the local remuneration scheme of the Goethe-Institut in India.

The Goethe-Institut is looking for a committed employee to start on 3 February 2025 or later (initially for a limited period of one year with the option of extension).

The Goethe-Institut e.V. is an intermediary organisation of the Federal Republic of Germany whose aims are to promote knowledge of the German language abroad, to foster international cultural cooperation and to convey a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information on cultural, social and political life. 

 

As ONLINE EDITOR your main responsibilities will include:
  • Editing, maintaining and developing the Goethe-Institut India‘s website (goethe.de/india) and online publications in consultation with the Director of the Information Department
  • Conception, development and administration of project websites and web content for the Goethe-Institut in India
  • Development of online editorial content, including theme research, contracting authors, translators, and photographers
  • Development of content for the social media channels of the Goethe-Institut India and its online communities
  • Contributing to the conception and implementation of various online formats.
  • Supporting the online team in India in relation to the Content Management System (CMS), media formats and editorial standards
  • Editing and entering texts and images into the CMS system
  • Budget management

You have the following qualifications:
  • University degree or equivalent knowledge/skills in the field of journalism or online journalism, editing, communication, social media, and related fields
  • Proven professional experience in the area of editing and journalism for a cultural institution
  • Strong copywriting/text writing skills, professional experience in creating content for online media
  • Excellent English language skills; advanced German language skills (minimum B2)
  • Very good knowledge of the media landscape in India
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications as well as photo editing programs (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team
  • Very good knowledge of Contents Management Systems, picture, audio and video editing and Microsoft Office software.
  • Experience of using social media and community management.
  • Good knowledge of cultural and socio-political discourse in Germany and India.
