The
Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) Bengaluru Chapter invites you to a
talk on
Jewish Heritage in Western India by
Dr. Pushkar Sohoni.
INTACH is a non-profit organization set up in 1984 with a mandate to protect and conserve India's vast natural, built and cultural heritage. Today, it is the country's largest non-profit membership organisation dedicated to the conservation and preservation of our natural, cultural, living, tangible and intangible heritage. The
INTACH Bengaluru team comprises architects, planners, engineers, writers, and others who try to preserve the cultural legacy of the city by creating awareness, mediating between the government and the public, offering architectural and engineering consultation to owners of heritage buildings, and documenting heritage structure.
About the talk:
The communities of the Bene Israel and the Baghdadi Jews were settled in the area around Mumbai. However, their architectural and social contributions are disproportionate to their small numerical strength.
About the speaker:
Pushkar Sohoni is Associate Professor, Humanities and Social Sciences at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune.
The event is
free and
open to all!
