Join us for our next Goethe Darbaar on April 25th for an engaging discussion on gender, women and literature. Anisha Lalvani, author of "Girls who Stray," and Atharva Pandit, author of "Hurda," will share their insights with moderator Rishi Majumder.

Lalvani's work delves into the raw and unapologetic lives of women defying societal norms, highlighting the patriarchal expectations and judgments they face. Pandit's novel, on the other hand, underscores the everyday violence— seen and unseen— perpetuated on women, and how, despite which, they find ways to overcome it.

Together, they will explore the unique challenges and rewards of writing female characters, and the evolution of women's portrayal in fiction. This discussion will not only reveal what literature says about societal attitudes towards gender but also critically examine the persisting patriarchal structures and misogyny, shaping our societies and being reflected in contemporary literature.
  • Day/Date:  Friday, 25 April  2025
  • Time: 6:30 PM
  • Venue: Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan New Delhi
