Sumanta Mukhopadhyay Born in 1974 in Kolkata, Mukhopadhyay was brought up in the part of the city, along the riverside, where life is a bit slow. A student of Bengali and Comparative Literature Mukhopadhyay is a poet and teacher by profession. He has translated poems from various Indian Languages for Sahitya Academy (National Academy of Letters) of India. His area of research is Aesthetics and Politics in Bengali Literature and he has keen interest for Modernism and its effect in Indian Poetry. His poems concentrate on a language of silence which addresses the agony of his countrymen and his land. He has three collections of poems to his credit.

He has edited three major critical anthologies of poems of noted Indian poets of his time. Mukhopadhyay has received Awards from Bengal Academy and Bhasha Bandhan, a renowned literary magazine in 2014 and 2013.
