The lens project "Ikkaraiyum Akkaraiyum" aims to bridge the past and present of Sri Lankan repatriates, documenting their experiences and facilitating public engagement. Through collaboration and a multimodal approach, the project seeks to explore the present everyday life of Sri Lankan repatriates and how it relates to their host land.
M. Subthiga is currently a PhD candidate at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras. Her research focuses on the photographic memories of Sri Lankan refugees in India. She holds an MPhil in Communication and an M.A. in Journalism and Communication from the University of Madras, India. She has seven years of experience teaching photography and film studies to visual communication students. Her research interests include investigating the intersections of photography with culture and memory, with a focus on personal and family photograph albums.
