Cornelia Klaus studied film science at the University of Film and Television in Babelsberg, Germany. From 1990 to 2003, she served as thecinema program director at the Filmkunsthaus Babylon, a renowned arthouse cinema, as well as a venue for film festivals, musical and literary cultural events. Klaus also worked in the selection committees of the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen and the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Films.
Klaus is currently active in a variety of different creative outlets. She is an author for radio features and a dramaturgical advisor to documentary filmmakers. Klaus also works as a director, curator, and editor of 'She – DEFA Directors and Their Films' among many others. Since 2017, she has been the head of the Film and Media Art Section at the Akademie der Künste, Berlin.
