The Goethe-Institut opens up cultural access for broader target groups and contributes to their connection to international cultural scenes. The Goethe-Institut works with a large number of different local, national and international partners to develop the structure and expertise of the cultural scene. It focuses on joint cultural production, the mobility of cultural professionals and sustainable exchange, for example in the form of residencies and networking programmes as well as training opportunities in the cultural sector and cultural education programmes, but also activities in the creative industries.
The Goethe-Institut contributes to the preservation of cultural scenes and the shaping of open societies by supporting endangered artists and cultural practitioners as well as civil society actors and cultural institutions.
The Goethe-Institut’s grant programme “Translations of German Books into Other Languages” supports non-German publishers in publishing German-language literature.
