The aim of this teaching material is to help to integrate the topic of "flight and migration" in German classes and to point out and sensitize different sub-areas.
At the moment, there are few topics that are as topical and important in Europe as dealing with the refugees who have already arrived in Europe and the topic of flight and migration in general. This volume of materials would like to help to deal with the topic in DaF classes and to point out and sensitize to different sub-areas. Since the legal situation is constantly changing, this is not addredded.
Topics covered are: reasons for flight, life as a refugee or unaccompanied minor refugees, flight and arrival in Europe.
The course "Flight and Migration" is available on the Moodle learning platform. There, the video clips and other relevant information and websites are accessible. Please register once to set up your personal account on www.mein.goethe.de and use this registration code cxcuytplihhw to get access to the material.
The material volume is aimed at grades 10-12. The introduction takes place through a quiz on the topic of "Flight and Migration". Further tasks follow on the subject of "reasons for flight". The video clip "Stationen einer Flucht" can be found on the learning platform (see above). A dice game invites the students to empathize with people who arrive in a new society with a cultural imprint of their own. It is also useful to learn to understand what it is like to get immersed in new sets of cultural rules, or what it feels like to suddenly be confronted with new codes of conduct.
Refugees in Germany, who are unaccompanied Minors will be addressed in the next thematic block. Refugees in my country / in my city / in my school: A research task should lead to a better understanding of the situation in the hometown of the respective school class and help to actively deal with possibilities for integration. Based on tasks from the Irish Leaving Certificate, a reading task and a writing task were set."
